Mr. Maycotte is a family law attorney with substantial trial experience representing clients across a broad range of domestic matters. His practice is centered on guiding clients through complex and often high-stakes family law disputes with a combination of courtroom advocacy and practical negotiation.
He represents clients in matters involving divorce, custody, removal, and paternity claims, as well as child support, alimony, parenting time, contempt, and modification issues. Mr. Maycotte has negotiated dozens of settlement agreements, helping clients achieve effective resolutions while minimizing disruption. He is also experienced in cases involving complex compensation structures and high-value assets, including beneficial trust interests, equity stakes, and business interests. In addition, he drafts and negotiates prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
Beyond his core family law practice, Mr. Maycotte has experience in international arbitration and litigation, as well as general civil and commercial litigation. His work includes representing a foreign, multi-national company in a complex, multi-million-dollar arbitration against a publicly traded Massachusetts corporation, where he participated in a two-week arbitration proceeding.
Mr. Maycotte is a certified mediator and holds certification as a Certified Financial Litigator from the American Academy of Certified Financial Litigators. He is a former Co-Chair of the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association and served on the Joint Bar Committee on Judicial Appointments. He is also a frequent chair and panelist at legal education courses, family law seminars, and discussion groups, and has been invited to speak on panels at Boston University School of Law.
He remains actively involved in the Cornell community, having served as President of the Board of the Cornell Club of Boston. He is also a member of the Cornell Alumni Ambassadors Network and the Cornell Alumni Student-Mentoring Program.
Mr. Maycotte speaks several languages, with native-speaker proficiency in Spanish, fluency in Italian and German, and the ability to understand written Portuguese.
