Professional Biography

Cary J. Mogerman is one of the most highly regarded family law attorneys in Missouri and is widely recognized by leading practitioners across the United States. With a practice focused on complex divorce and matrimonial matters, he is known for combining strong advocacy with a measured, solutions-oriented approach to resolving high-stakes disputes.

Cary represents clients in all aspects of family law, including complex divorce proceedings, and brings extensive experience as a trial lawyer, negotiator, and AAML-certified arbitrator and mediator. He emphasizes moving cases forward efficiently and resolving matters with dignity and minimal acrimony, tailoring his approach to the unique dynamics of each family. In addition to his trial and negotiation work, he maintains an active appellate practice, having briefed and argued nearly thirty appeals in Missouri appellate courts.

Cary is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and served as its national President in 2022. He is also a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organization limited to 100 members nationwide, and serves on its executive committee. In addition, he is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

He is a past recipient of the Missouri Bar Family Law Section’s “Roger P. Krumm Family Law Practitioner of the Year Award,” which recognizes exceptional competence, integrity, and dedication to advancing the practice of family law. Cary also completed a six-year term on the Missouri Commission on Retirement, Removal, and Discipline of Judges, having been appointed by the Board of Governors of the Missouri Bar.

He served for seven consecutive years on the faculty of the American Bar Association Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute and has taught at the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers’ Institute for Family Law Associates since 2007, including serving as co-chair.
